We have received 3.27 inches of rain in the month of December!! What a great start for Winter!!
We had quite the thunder storm last night……rolling thunder….the sky was lighting up and the rain was coming down! The temps are too high for snow, but we can keep hoping!
Bills are in the mail today, and they will be due on 12/29, instead of 12/25.

Hello Readers. I just wanted to let you know that I am still on a blogging hiatus for a few more months. Due to health issues, I will be off until February 1st, 2015. Even though I won’t be posting any new articles for a while, all the present information will remain up and on the blog. I look forward to getting well and returning to my duties here at the water district.
Don’t forget you can go to the water district website at pcwd.org for information as well.
Happy Holidays! Vicki

The weekend storm came and went as Old Man Winter gave it one last shot. It was quite chilly out over the weekend, but it seems to be warming up a bit today. The weather station up at the Rocky Point tank site says it is 54 degrees out at 10 a.m., so we are getting back to normal. Hopefully this will be the last cold & snow storm of the season. While moisture is always welcome, it is getting late in the year to have snow and freezing temperatures. Let’s hope for lots of nice rain for the rest of the spring and some summer monsoonal moisture this summer.
Here is the forecast for the coming week. Looks like temperatures are going up but we are going to get some wind.

Edison has turned off the electricity here on the hill. It should be off until about noon. They are working on upgrading the system and everyone was given advance notice. This is a planned outage and there is nothing wrong and there is no problem.
The weather has warmed up slightly and it is about 40 degrees this morning. The sun should be back out by Sunday and temperatures should be back in the 50’s. So, all in all, it should be a decent weekend here on the hill if you are planning a trip up. If you are a full timer, it will be a good weekend to get a head start on some of those spring projects. It is too bad we didn’t get more snow, but we have no control over that.
Please remember we are now in Stage I conservation. Please conserve water whenever possible. For more information on the Water Conservation Stages, please check the page at the top of the blog. We also enclosed a brochure in this month’s bill explaining the different stages as well as the tiered water prices for each stage.

A storm moved through Pine Cove late yesterday and left a little covering of snow. Maybe an inch. However, it is still very cold outside. It is currently 38 degrees and there is some ice on the roads. The sun is out and shining and so the ice should start melting off, but it would still be best to be careful if driving around up here this morning. There is black ice on some roads which can take a driver by surprise if they aren’t used to driving in it. We were hoping for more snow than we got, but Mother Nature is in control, not us. It should be back up in the high 50’s by Sunday.
